Collections is one of the hardest seats in financial services. Every call is with someone who is behind, and most of them would rather not pick up. Beryl Fauni started there. Ten years ago she joined Vault as a collections agent, hoping, she wrote this year, to do good work and help where she could.

She did not expect where it would lead. Today she is Vault Outsourcing's Chief Operating Officer. She is one of the leaders responsible for the offshore teams Vault builds in the Philippines for Australian lenders, fintechs and financial services firms.

The start

Where she learned the work

Vault treats collections as a specialty, not a volume job. It recruits for emotional intelligence and judgement under pressure, and it argues that an agent who works only from the script turns a hard conversation into a standoff. Those were the skills Fauni was building on the phones in 2016, at a company then only a year old.

When Vault marked her ten years in March 2026, it used her story to make a point about how it builds teams. Many companies, it said, hire individual stars and hope a strong team forms around them. Vault's approach is to grow people from within, and it described Fauni as someone who took a chance on its vision when it was still young.

Her path ran through operations and sales. Vault's own posts show her as Director of Sales Operations before it announced her promotion to Chief Operating Officer. In that earlier role, she cut the ribbon with CEO Dean Hutton on Vault's newer office. It sits at Insular Life Corporate Centre in Muntinlupa, in the south of Metro Manila.

How she leads

Fauni gives the credit for her rise to the people around her, who backed her early and developed alongside her. What the decade taught her, she says, is that a leader's job is to give others room to develop. That means passing on what you know and helping people recognise their own potential.

The part of the role she values most is seeing her team do well. She has said she is grateful to be at a company that invests in developing its own people.

Why it matters for buyers

For an Australian lender weighing an offshore team, a leader who has done the work herself is a practical signal. Collections, compliance and customer conversations are the functions Vault sells, and its COO learned them on the floor before she managed them.

What comes next

A decade in, still building people

Fauni marked her tenth year during National Women's Month in the Philippines, and dedicated her reflection to other women in leadership. Her own career is the case for the approach Vault talks about most: hire for the hard skills of financial services, then give people room to rise.
