ESAT, short for employee satisfaction score, is a workforce metric that measures how content agents are with their job and their employer, typically captured through a short survey rated on a one to five scale. In a call centre, ESAT reflects whether agents feel their needs are being met on pay, workload, management quality, and career growth. The score is usually reported as the percentage of respondents who describe themselves as satisfied or very satisfied.
The outsourcing firm TaskUs, in its customer support glossary, defines ESAT as employees' "self-reported contentment about the business in which they work for, in addition to the extent that their wants and needs are perceived to have been met by the organization". That framing matters in outsourcing, where the agent's daily experience feeds directly into the customer's.
