How BPO engagements are priced

Five models cover almost every Philippine BPO contract. Knowing which one a quote uses, and what that model quietly includes or excludes, is most of the work of comparing providers. For live seat estimates by role and seniority, use the cost calculator.

Per-seat (dedicated FTE)

You pay a fixed monthly rate per dedicated agent. The most common model for ongoing customer support and back office work. Predictable and simple to budget, but you carry idle time: the seat costs the same on a quiet day. Ask what the seat price includes: QA, a team lead share, tooling, and reporting are inside some quotes and extras on others.

Per-hour / per-transaction

Billing follows volume: hours logged or units processed (tickets closed, claims keyed, minutes handled). Fits spiky or seasonal workloads where a fixed seat would sit idle. The risk moves to quality: a per-unit price rewards speed, so agree on quality thresholds and rework terms before signing.

Outcome-based

Payment attaches to a result: qualified leads delivered, collections recovered, bookings made. The most aligned model when the outcome is clearly measurable, and the hardest to negotiate when it is not. Expect the provider to price in their risk; a hybrid base-plus-bonus is the usual landing zone.

Managed service

The provider owns the whole function against service levels: staffing, workforce management, tooling, and continuous improvement. You buy the SLA, not the people. Suits mature processes you want off your plate entirely, and demands the most careful contract because switching costs are highest.

AI-augmented (blended) pricing

The newest model, and the reason this page exists: AI absorbs part of the routine volume, so fewer seats handle the same workload, with a platform or tooling fee alongside the smaller human team. When a provider quotes this, ask which tasks the AI handles, who reviews its output, and how the seat reduction is shared between their margin and your invoice.

BPO pricing questions

01

How are Philippine BPO engagements priced?

Five models cover almost every contract: per-seat (a fixed monthly rate per dedicated agent), per-hour or per-transaction, outcome-based, managed service, and AI-augmented blended pricing. Knowing which model a quote uses, and what it quietly includes or excludes, is most of the work of comparing providers.

02

What should a per-seat price include?

Ask explicitly, because it varies between providers: QA, a team lead share, tooling, and reporting sit inside some quotes and are billed as extras on others. Per-seat is predictable and simple to budget, but you carry the idle time - the seat costs the same on a quiet day.

03

Which pricing model suits seasonal or spiky volume?

Per-hour or per-transaction billing, because cost follows volume instead of a fixed seat sitting idle. The trade-off is quality: a per-unit price rewards speed, so agree quality thresholds and rework terms before signing.

04

When does outcome-based pricing work?

When the outcome is clearly measurable - qualified leads delivered, collections recovered, bookings made. It is the most aligned model in those cases and the hardest to negotiate when the result is ambiguous. Expect the provider to price in their risk; a hybrid base-plus-bonus is the usual landing zone.

05

What is a managed service contract?

The provider owns the whole function against service levels - staffing, workforce management, tooling, and continuous improvement - so you buy the SLA rather than the people. It suits mature processes you want off your plate entirely, and needs the most careful contract because switching costs are highest.

06

How does AI change BPO pricing?

AI absorbs part of the routine volume, so fewer seats handle the same workload, usually with a platform or tooling fee alongside a smaller human team. When a provider quotes this model, ask which tasks the AI handles, who reviews its output, and how the seat reduction is split between their margin and your invoice.

Put numbers on it

Model a team by role and seniority, flip on the AI-augmented view, and compare the estimate with an equivalent onshore team. Then get three providers matched to your requirements to quote against it. For the market rates behind those numbers, see what call center outsourcing costs in 2026.
